The closest airport to Byron Bay is Ballina (BNK). It is a 15-20 minute drive to Byron Bay center.

The most direct flight path from the States is flying to Sydney > Ballina OR Brisbane > Ballina. Each of these flights is only 45 mins - 1 hour.

Alternatively, you can fly into the Gold Coast Airport (OOL). The GC is a 1-hour drive to Byron Bay.

Or you can fly into Brisbane (BNE). Brisbane is a 2-hour drive from Byron Bay.

TIPS

For New Yorkers: It is often more affordable to purchase the flights under two separate bookings. One to LAX and then one from LAX to Australia.

The Gold Coast is a lovely place to visit before or after the wedding. Ali would be extremely happy to assist in accommodations or figuring out transportation to Byron from the GC if anyone takes this path.

NOTE

DO NOT FLY INTO SYDNEY WITH THE INTENTION OF DRIVING TO BYRON. This is a FULL 8-hour drive! Short flight but LONG drive!

When booking your travel from the US, please remember that you lose almost two days due to flight time AND time difference. If you leave on the 25th, you will arrive into Aus on the 27th! If you leave on the 26th (not recommended) you will arrive THE MORNING of the wedding on the 28th.

TIP: If you can fly to LA domestic, then book the international flight to Australia as its own itinerary, it is often cheaper.

TIP: Flying Dec 24th or 25th will be more affordable! You will be spending Christmas in the sky with the angels but your pockets & dearest friends will thank you!

TIP: Does your flight price look too good to be true? Make sure you double-check the layovers and flight time. If it's $800 there will be a reason!

Everyone traveling to Australia from overseas needs to fill out an E-Visa. It’s very simple and only takes 5 mins through an app.

Please do this at least 72 hours before your flight!
